Robert R. Freshly, age 90, of Homeworth passed away at 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at McCrea Manor.
He was born September 15, 1923, in Homeworth, Ohio, to Allen and Gladys A. (Stoffer) Freshly.
Robert received his high school diploma while in the United States Army, having served during World War II.
He was employed as a truck driver in Maryland for 20 years at Deioma Trucking in Alliance for six years and as a mechanic at Alliance Machine Co. having retired after 11 years.
Robert was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed bowling and gardening.
Survivors include his children Michael L. (Karen) Freshly of South Carolina and Barbara C. Grimm of Alliance; grandchildren Christopher J. (Kristina) Grimm, Patrick J. (Shannon) Grimm, Megan Elizabeth Freshly, Michele (Donny) Stanley, and Stephanie (Chip) Holmes; nine great-grandchildren and sisters, June Livingston and Margie Stroup.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia O. (Mann) Freshly, whom he married June 24, 1950 and who died January 4, 2012; and brothers, Eugene and Bill Freshly.
A service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Andrews, Minister of Pastoral Care at Union Ave. United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at North Georgetown Cemetery.
