Robert "Popi" Handrych, age 76 of Alliance, died at 3:15 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2007 at the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born Nov. 30, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to James and Elsie (Polka) Handrych and lived in Alliance for the past 47 years.
Mr. Handrych was self employed with Standard Oil for 23 years, and retired from Lamborn Floral as General Manager after 23 years of service.
Popi attended Alliance Evangelical Friends Church, enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, and his best friend, Willie.
A U. S. Marine Corp Veteran, Mr. Handrych served during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley J. (Teter) Handrych, whom he married March 27, 1954; son, James (Sally) Handrych of Alliance; daughter, Jodie (Phil) Grove of Alliance; grandchildren, Rachael (Scott) Montgomery, Austin (Casie) Handrych, and Troy, Kyle and Jill Grove; great-grandchildren, Kelsye, Maryn, and Jamysen Montgomery, and Asher Handrych; and brothers, Jerry Handrych Tenn. and James Handrych of Cal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Carol Dennison.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Alliance Evangelical Friends Church with Pastor Rick Sams and Dr. Edward Mitchell officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
