Robert Michael Hofer, age 63, of Homeworth, Ohio, died at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Alliance Community Hospital of metastatic melanoma. Robert was known to family and friends as "Bob" and lived his entire life in Homeworth, Ohio.
He was born December 12, 1946 at the Yaggi Central Clinic in Salem, Ohio, to John and Lois Hofer. He attended the Robert Bycroft School and Sheltered Workshop and was employed by EDI in Lisbon, Ohio. Robert enjoyed working and spending time with friends and colleagues at EDI, traveling for family vacations, working puzzles and caring for his cats. He loved toying with mechanical things, especially riding his John Deere lawn mower.
Robert was a member of the Middle Sandy Evangelical Presbyterian Church and served on the client council at EDI.
Robert is survived by his mother, Lois Jean (Yaggi) Hofer of Homeworth; and siblings, Nancy Cole of Stevensville, Michigan, Paul Hofer of Perry, Ohio, Samantha Hofer of Concord, North Carolina, Kathy Bachman of Hilliard, Ohio, Beth Hofer of Sea Cliff, New York, Martha Stahl of North Benton, Ohio, Becky Hofer of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Perry of Greenford, Ohio and Mark Hofer of Hilliard, Ohio.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, John Hofer in 1974.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Sawyer of Middle Sandy Evangelical Presbyterian Church officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery in Beloit, Ohio.
