Robert M. "Dutch" Kurtz age 73 of Alliance died at his home at 10 a.m. Wednesday January 7, 2004.
He was born in Sinking Springs, Pennsylvania to George Kurtz and Louella (Leasure) Dugan.
Mr. Kurtz lived in Alliance since 1963 and drove truck for Kuntzman Trucking for 26 years.
He was a member of Tadmor Temple, Conrad Masonic Lodge 271, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Alliance Shrine Club, and was a member of the transportation unit for transporting children to Erie Pa. Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, and the Shriner's Burn Unit Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a former volunteer fireman in Lexington Township and served in the National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating at Lake Erie.
Mr. Kurtz was a retired Teamster and one of the founders of the Balsa Bees.
He is survived by his wife A. Jean (Montgomery) Kurtz, whom he married April 10, 1962, 3 sons Robert D. (Denise) Kurtz of Beebe, Arkansas, Kenyon L. (Leslie) Kurtz of Minerva, and Eric V. (Dawn) Kurtz of Alliance, one daughter Linda (Brian) Ream of Myerstown, Pa., one brother, Carl Kurtz of Galeton, Pa., 3 sisters, Jackie Ammon of Pa., Patricia (Joseph) Yee of Oley, Pa., and Nadine (William) Venskye of St. Lawrence Pa., and 12 grandchildren.
Mr. Kurtz was preceded in death by his parents, one stepbrother Thomas Wayne Dugan (missing in action in Vietnam), one son Larry Kurtz, and his stepfather Bernard Dugan.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Ertl of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minerva officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Conrad Masonic Lodge will hold services at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
