Robert Lane

August 26, 1925 — September 23, 2007

Robert C. Lane, age 82, of Alliance, formerly of East Liverpool, died at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Aultman Hospital.
He was born August 26, 1925 in Smith Ferry, Pennsylvania to Robert and Sophia (Wickline) Lane.
Robert was a U.S. Marine Corporal having served in World War II. He attended St. Joseph's Church in Maximo.
Robert was employed by J & L Steel in Louisville for 30 years as a roller until his retirement.
He was a life member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 166, life member of 40 & 8 Club, life member of V.F.W. Post 1036 and D.A.V. Chapter 20, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Alliance, Masonic Lodge in East Liverpool, 32 degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville.
Survivors include his wife, Mary E. (Bollia) Brown Lane whom he married November 30, 1974; sons, Robert C. (Cherrie) Lane Jr. of East Liverpool, Terry Lee (Laurie) Lane of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Tracy (Selisa) Lane of Lakeland Fla; daughter, Linda Lee Jones of Jacksonville, Fla; three stepsons, Eugene (Sherry) Brown, Tom (Paula) "P.J" Brown, Bill (Cathy) Brown, all of Alliance; one step-daughter, Betty Schillig of Alliance; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Lane and brothers, Lawrence, Browder, Walter and Bert Lane.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Peters officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
