Robert Lee Marty, age 86 of Alliance, passed away at his home Friday, July 28, 2017.
He was born March 28, 1931 in Alliance, Ohio to George Washington Marty and Viola (Solomon) Marty.
Bob attended Alliance High School and retired after working as a Hammerman for 30 years at Transue and Williams.
A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was member of the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division, 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment, and recipient of a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He attended First Friends Church and enjoyed fishing at Lake Erie and motorcycling.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn R. (Gantz) Marty, whom he married August 2, 1952; children, Gary Lee Marty of Maumee, and Diane R. (Marty) Bates of Limaville; grandchildren, Kristen Bates, Trisha Bates, Tracie Friel, and Travis Marty; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Gednetz of Canton.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 (also the date of their 65th wedding anniversary) at the Marlboro Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Interment will follow at Marlboro Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may register online at: www.ctcfuneral.com.
