Robert Emerson Mason passed away Friday, November 3, 2017.
He was born on June 4, 1930, in Caldwell, Ohio, the son of the late Harold and Luna Mason.
Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley (Roth) Mason; two daughters, Tonji (Ernest) Thibault of Alliance, and Tamara (Jerry) Chapman of State College, Pennsylvania; son, Brad (Cynthia) Mason of San Jose, California; grandchildren, David (Amie) Craddock, Debra (Dave) Browning, Hunter Stevens (Chanese), and Shawn and Julia Mason; and great-grandchildren, Abby and Madeline Browning.
He is survived by two brothers, Henry Louis and Carlos, with one brother, Delbert, and sister, Kathryn, deceased.
Robert graduated from Louisville High School and served in the United States Army (Artillery, August 1950 to 1952) and is a Korean War Veteran. After his discharge, Robert worked for a brief time as an assembler at Maloney Storm Door Company.
With a total of 39 years in banking, Robert was hired by Alliance First National Bank and continued there as a teller, supervisor and other assignments through manager at the West State branch. He retired after eight years as the Cash Vault Supervisor at Chase Bank in Akron.
Robert and Shirley were married in 1955. They enjoyed traveling with their family, and later in life traveled to visit friends and family all over the country.
He was a member of Alliance Kiwanis, church treasurer and deacon, and an Alliance High School Band parent. Woodworking seemed to be in his blood and he made many improvements over the years to their home, large and small.
The neighborhood children always wanted to come over and help with the latest projects.
A special thank you to the staff of Catholic Charities Adult Day Care of Louisville; Caregivers - Cheryl, Shannon, Amy, Stacey, Demee, Jackie and Nicole; Right-At-Home of Stark County; Dr. Gamal El-Mobasher, Heather and staff; and to Alliance Hospice, Alliance Community Hospital and Community Care Center.
Calling hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, officiated by Sue DeHoff of First Christian Church (DOC).
Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
