Robert Lee Miskimins, age 74, of Alliance, died at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born November 10, 1936, in Charleston, West Virginia, to Homer Haymaker Miskimins and Helen (Herndon) Miskimins Powell.
Robert graduated from the former Goshen Union High School and worked for George Wallace as a horse trainer, the former Alliance Machine Company and OEM of Salem.
He was an active member of the Damascus Friends Church, Chuck Williams Sunday school class, and the Wood Turners Association. Robert enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his great grandson, Dylan.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane (Denny) Miskimins, whom he married March 4, 1956; daughters, Carol Lear of Alliance and Sue Miskimins (Pat Gattozzi) of Las Vegas, Nv.; grandchildren, Sissy Mercer and Michael J. Long; great-grandson, Dylan James Karlovic; sisters, Martha Lofland and Sally Darling of Salem; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home co-officiated by Pastor John Ryser and Pastor Roger Kitzmiller. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
