Robert D. Scott, age 82 of Homeworth, died at 9:23 a.m. Tuesday at home. He was born in Homeworth on April 22, 1921 to Walter and Gneta (Brown) Scott. A lifelong resident of Homeworth, he was known to many as the honorary Mayor.
Mr. Scott was a graduate of Alliance High School and Kent State University and retired from Dun and Bradstreet where he worked as an analyst for over 30 years. He served in the Army Air Corps based in England as a pilot of a B-17 during WWII. Robert was a lifelong member of Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church where he was involved in many activities of the church. He was a member of Eastern Star Esther Chapter 120, Past Patron Homeworth Chapter 553, Homeworth Masonic Lodge, and Homeworth Lions Club where he was a founding member and a major part of organizing and participating in one of his favorite activities the annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Survivors include his son Michael and Susan Scott, 2 grandsons Jason and Jeffrey, one granddaughter Erin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen L. (Humphrey) whom he married August 16, 1947, brother Bruce and sister Dorothy.
Funeral services will be held at Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church on Tuesday September 9th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tom Sawyer officiating. Friends may call Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park.
