Roberta Bell Holland Richmond Stewart, age 97, of Sebring, formerly of Alliance, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Crandall Medical Center.
She was born October 12, 1912, in Logan County, Ohio to Robert and Mary Muriel (Bell) Holland.
Mrs. Stewart was a 1929 graduate of West Mansfield High School. She attended Ohio Northern University, graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor in teaching and received her Masters from Kent State University in 1960. She taught elementary education in Logan County, Hubbard and Washington Elementary School in Marlington Local School District.
Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church and was involved with the United Methodist Women's Circle. She was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, life member of the Ohio Retired Teacher's Association, and founding member of the Columbiana Ohio Garden Club. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, photography, genealogy, and especially her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Sara (Alan) Burky of Uniontown; son, Tom (Barbara) Richmond of Alliance; daughter-in-law, Patricia Richmond of Alliance; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Doris Jolliff of Kenton, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Homer F. Richmond whom she married June 9, 1940 and who died June 30, 1977 and Lawrence Stewart who died in 1992; and a son, Joseph Richmond.
Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. John G. McLachlan officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at East Liberty Cemetery in Logan County at a later date.
