Robert "Bob" L Battershell Jr.

Robert “Bob” L. Battershell Jr., age 72, of Hartville passed away at home on February 27th, 2021.

Bob was born on October 22nd, 1948 in Alliance to Robert L. Battershell Sr. and Hazel L. (Ginther) Battershell.

Bob was a 1966 graduate of Marlington High School.  He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army.   Bob worked at Hoover Company for 38 years prior to his retirement.  He also volunteered for the Marlboro Fire Department and worked part time for the Marlboro Township Road Department.  Bob was a lifelong farmer and loved spending time with his family, especially attending the grandchildren’s sporting events.   Bob was also a member of the Alliance Elks #467.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dawn M. (Penrod) Battershell, whom he married on October 20th, 1973; children, Mike (Jeanine) Battershell and Kristy (Shane) Howard; grandchildren, Blake and Carter Howard and Connor and Claire Battershell; sister, Jean Mizner; brothers, John (Cindy) Battershell and Rich (Leanne) Battershell; mother-in-law, Yvonne Penrod; sisters-in-law, Amy (Scott) Gabelt, Sue (Tim Wise) Waseman; brother-in-law, John (Kathy) Penrod; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Wilbur Penrod; brother-in-law, David Mizner.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 2nd from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
