Roderick Washington, age 74, of Alliance, passed away at 12:10 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Kobacker House in Columbus.
He was born June 19, 1944, in Alliance, Ohio, to Charles and Lucy (Snodgrass) Washington.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Rod served for two years in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
Rod retired as an Inspector at General Motors in Lordstown after 39 years of service.
One of Rod’s favorite things to do was watch Westerns and Sports on TV. He also enjoyed working out, exercising and was an avid runner.
Rod’s heart was for his family, taking care of them, making surprise visits to them, and sharing his love with them.
Survivors include his wife, Candice of Alliance, three daughters, Tori and Freedom of Columbus and Dinah Shipman of Canton, one son, Naja of Columbus; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Jan of Steubenville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Darnell and Charles; and one sister, Jeralee.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Alliance Friends Church. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m., prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
