On October 1, 2022, Rodney went to be with his Lord.
He was born and lived in Alliance, Ohio all of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Deborah (Minger) Hodgekin; his sister, Dianna (Hodgekin) Ashburn; brother, David (JoAnn) Hodgekin; and several nieces and nephews.
On June 25, 1977, he married Deborah Minger. Rodney graduated from Alliance High School and attended Kent State. He worked at Red Barn while in school to become a manager. Rodney went to serve his country in Vietnam with the United States Army. He worked for B&W Tubular until it changed names to PTC. He worked there 40 years. Rodney was a flint napper and loved making arrow heads, knives and spears. He also enjoyed taking walks at Quail Hollow, and riding his motorcycle. Rodney loved to take his family and friends for rides on his motorcycle and going fishing and hunting with them. He looked forward to the Great Trails Festival every year. Rodney also went to schools to demonstrate flint napping and talk about Vietnam. If you saw him, most of the time he had a flannel shirt on. Rodney was a good hearted person and would help anyone that needed it. He loved animals and his favorite dog was a Brittany Spaniel named April. Rodney was a great and loving husband.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Lucille; his sister Jean Carol Blair; and a brother-in-law, Larry Ashburn.
Visitation will be at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Thursday, October 6th from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 7th at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Jay Fisher officiating.
