Roger Round

d. January 1, 0001

Roger R. Round age 72 of Canton, and formerly of Alliance, passed away on Aug. 13, 2004 in the peace of his home after a lengthy battle with undiagnosed Lewy's Body Disease.
He was born April 9, 1932 in Alliance, to Gilbert and Helen (Russel) Round.
A retired teacher, Mr. Round graduated from Alliance High School and received his BA from Mount Union College and his MBA from Kent State. Bearing a strong conviction that the primary responsibility of an educator was to the future of his students, he taught English in Alliance, Euclid and the Detroit area.
Mr. Round was also a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany from 1954-1956 intercepting and deciphering Morse code messages.
He was a man of strong principles and gentle demeanor, quiet, insightful and compassionate. He was a lifetime fan of sports, a gifted pianist, and a master of trivia with a dry and ready wit. He will be sorely missed by his family.
Mr. Round is survived by his loving wife Roslyn (Woods) England Round, whom he married Aug. 8, 1987, daughter Beth Hetchler of Ocala, Fla., son Scott of Jackson Township, three stepsons David (Maribel) England of Massillon, Daniel (Susan) England of Alliance, and Jeff (Deborah) England of Alliance, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Paula.
Services will be held at Noon Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Enzie Wade officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
Memorials contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
