Romulus Hampu
Romulus Hampu, age 92 of Alliance, died peacefully in his sleep at home at 5:00 a.m. Sunday, November 12, 2006.
He was born September 14, 1914 in Scorei, Romania to Ioan and Ana (Marcu) Hampu and lived in Alliance for the past 30 years after moving from Romania with his wife.
Mr. Hampu retired from the former Lamborn Floral Co. He was a member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church.
He is survived by his four daughters, Aurelia (Nick) Gaurila, Eleonora (Ilie) Aldea, Elena (Mihai) Preda, all of Alliance, Ohio, Mary (Daniel) Chis of Homeworth, Ohio; one son, John (Maria) Hampu of Detroit, Michigan; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Maria Orzea Hampu, whom he married in 1940, and who died September 25, 2005, one brother, and six sisters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church with Father Pantelimon Stanciu officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church. A Saracusta service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
