Ronald Francis Holt

Ronald Francis Holt, born in Alliance, June 11, 1939, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 1, 2016 at the age of 77.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur G. Holt and his mother, Mary J. Holt (Muntean).
He is survived by his brothers, Arthur G. Holt (Florida) and James W. Holt (Virginia). He is also survived by his eight children, (Ronald, Mariellen, Stephen, Michael, Terry, Robin, Tracey and Daniel); ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was a lifelong resident of Alliance. He attended Central Catholic and graduated from Alliance High School in 1958. He married Norma J. Welty in 1959. They raised their eight children together until 1981.
He attended St. Joseph Church as a youth and later was a parishioner at Regina Coeli Church.
While attending Alliance High School, he worked at Joe Palmenter Sunoco. He worked at Morgan's Engineering where he learned to be a draftsman. He also worked at Cleveland Crane & Conveyor, Kerma, Alliance Machine, and retired from Butech Engineering in 2002.
He was generous with his time in the community. He was an active member of the Alliance Jaycees. He coached baseball for Fairmount Home School in 1964-65. He began his coaching career in the Hot Stove League in 1968 until 2003. During that time, he coached several different teams from several school districts in Alliance. He was three times the President of the Alliance Chapter of the Hot Stove League and served on the Board of Directors for the state organization. He was awarded the Cy Butler Award by the Ohio Hot Stove League and was inducted into Ohio Hot Stove League Hall of Fame.
Calling hours will be held Monday, September 12th from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Services will be held at Regina Coeli Church on Tuesday, September 13th at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery immediately following the service. All will be open for the public.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations made to the funeral home to help with the expense of the services.
