Ronald Lee "Bear" Williams

Ronald Lee "Bear" Williams, age 61, of Alliance, passed away from an extended illness on Friday, January 12, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 22, 1956 at Alliance Community Hospital to Wilbert G. and Shirley (Mason) Williams. He lived in the Alliance area for his entire life.
Ron will be remembered by many as a good and faithful friend and a great-story teller. He was happiest when his home was full of family and friends and he loved to feed people anything from his famous smoked meats to his homemade sauerkraut! He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing guitar and spending time with his grandchildren.
Ron ran sound for bands for many years, including Southern Charm and Backbone Band. He worked at shops in Alliance, including Transue and Williams, Alliance Crane, and American Steel. He retired in 2013 from Roselawn Terrace where he served as Maintenance Supervisor.
He was a lifelong member of the Alliance Church of Christ where he was active in the benevolent program. Ron served as Assistant Coach of Marlington Youth Wresting for several years. He was also an endowment member of the N.R.A.
In addition to his parents, Ron is survived by his wife, Jenny (Jenkins) Williams, whom he married November 25, 1977; his son, Michael Williams; daughter-in-law, Andrea (Bowlin) Williams; and grandchildren, Mati and Maxx Williams, all of Alliance; his daughter, Leann Williams and her fiancé, Shaun Perez of Alliance; his son, Daniel Williams of Alliance; his sisters, Cheryl (Chuck) Mull of Alliance, Pam (Virgil) Kirkpatrick of Alliance, Lynette Williams of Canton; and his brother, Curt (Karen) Williams of Stow.
Ron is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and his four-legged best friend, Rusty.
Ron was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gene and Evelyn Mason of Alliance, and his paternal grandparents, Wilbert Sr. and Goldie Williams, of Houston, Missouri.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Mauldin officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
