Rose Lee Rhoads, age 83, of Alliance, died at 2:15 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007, at Community Care Center.
She was born July 24, 1924 in Alliance to Ignatz and Mary (Jenei) Bara.
Rose was a 1942 graduate of Alliance High School. She was a member of Community Bible Church and a former member of Alliance Church of the Brethren, where she served as financial secretary for many years.
Before Rose's marriage she was employed at the former McCaskey Register and Persky's Bakery.
Rose served as a Volunteer at Alliance Community Hospital on the Volunteer Board for several years and as Desk Information Chairman and in Admitting and Discharge. In recent years she was a "Greeter" in the Medical Arts Building. Rose accumulated over 16,500 hours as a volunteer. She especially appreciated her "Transport Girls" who made it possible for her to volunteer. She worked for over 33 years with her good friends Jane Stahl and the late Elizabeth Long. She was very proud of being a "Pink Lady" and enjoyed meeting and helping people.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Kenny) Fox of Homeworth; son, Jim (Wendy) Rhoads of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Meredith (Kyle) Krahling of Sebring and Jimmy Rhoads of Jacksonville, FL; great grandchildren, Hayley Krahling, to whom she was known affectionately as "Grandma Pete" and Keaton Rhoads, newest baby; brothers, Andrew Bara of Alliance and Joseph Bara of Sebring and several nieces and nephews
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glenn (Dusty) Rhoads, whom she married November 13, 1944 at the Westville Congregational Church and who died in January of 1988; granddaughters, Melissa Sue and Dinette Lynn Fox; sister, Sue Varga and two brothers, Ignatz and Steve Bara.
The family wishes to give a big "Thank You" to her good friends and neighbors, Helen, Doug, Donna, Joanne, Al and Becky who helped her tremendously over the years.
Services will be held at Noon Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Rod Doran officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. - Noon prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
