Ross Gary Phillips

June 22, 1935 — June 23, 2007

Ross G. Phillips, age 72, of Alliance, passed away at his home at 5:20 p.m. June 23, 2007 surrounded by his loving family and listening to Welsh music.
He was born June 22, 1935 in Hanover Twp., Pa., to Lewis Geoffrey and Ruth Reese Phillips and had lived in the Alliance area since 1975.
A 1952 graduate of Hanover Twp. Pa., High School, Mr. Phillips attended Jet Mechanics School through the U. S. Air Force, where he served from 1953 to 1957.
Mr. Phillips previously worked for Globe Security and with the Baltimore City, Maryland Police Dept. from 1965 to 1975 when an injury received during the line of duty forced his early retirement. He later worked with the late Richard H. Fry at the Stark Metropolitan Park, now known as Stark County Park District as Head of Park Police during the late 1970's, and during the early 1980's Ross was the Security Director at Congress Lake Country Club.
Ross was a longtime member of FOP Lodge #3 in Baltimore, Md., member of Fidelity Masonic Lodge #655, in Wilkes-Barre Pa., and was a 32i�½ Mason with the Scottish Rite Valley of Canton. He was also a member of Tadmor Temple in Akron, member of the DAV #50 in Alliance, member of the Alliance Shrine Club and former member and president of the Marlboro Lions.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Z. (Ziegler) Phillips, whom he married Sept. 23, 1967; son, Kevin S.T. (Julie) Phillips and his children Rhiannon M., Connor R. and Liam R. Phillips, all of Alliance; daughters Ruth Ann (Anthony) Zak of Las Vegas NV and Deborah Phillips of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and her children Eric (Katie) Temarantz of Tamaqua, Pa., and Isis Vieney of Wilkes-Barre, Pa; brother Lewis "Buddy" (Irene) Phillips Jr., of Nanticoke, Pa.; nephews, Robert (Melissa) Phillips of Pennsburg, Pa., Gary (Sandy) Phillips of Spring City, Pa., Jeffrey (Kerry) Quick of Sutton, Ma., and niece, Karen Quick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary, Arlene and Morydd (Morve) Quick, and nephew, Harry D. Quick III.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30th at the Marlboro Cemetery in the chapel with Rev. Gary Smith officiating, with interment to follow.
