Roy A. "Sonny" Tarbet, II, age 63, of Louisville, Ohio, formerly of Alliance, passed away at 10:47 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at The Cleveland Clinic.
He was born June 22, 1946, in Alliance, Ohio to Roy and Florence (Vosper) Tarbet.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Roy was formerly employed at Lavery Chevrolet in Alliance as an auto mechanic.
A United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam, he was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 157. He also was a member of the VFW Post No. 7490, American Legion Post 548 of Louisville, Vietnam Helicopter Crew Members Association and the BPO Elks No. 467 of Alliance.
Roy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dog Charlie. He also loved music of the 1950's, John Deere tractors, and muscle cars.
Survivors include his daughter, Kyla (Steve) Benson of Louisville; son, Roy A. Tarbet III of Marion; two grandchildren, Courtney and David Sutherland; brother, Douglas (Barbara) Tarbet of Celebration, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and one brother, Howard.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, Ohio, 44270-0008 with Mr. Daniel McCurdy officiating. Interment will follow. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle Christian Funeral Home.
