Russell Perry Harper, age 75, of Alliance, passed away at 5 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Community Care Center.
He was born July 16, 1942, in Gimlett, Kentucky, to Bill and Maggie (Barker) Harper and has been a resident of Alliance since the mid-1960s.
Russell was a high school graduate, a veteran of the United States Army and National Guard, and a retired Chrysler employee.
Russell is a member, Deacon and Trustee of Pennsylvania Freewill Baptist Church and of the United Auto Workers. He enjoyed fishing, grilling and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia (Burton) Harper, whom he married July 1969; son, Jeff Harper of Sebring; daughters, Tina (Donald) Boggs of Louisville and Melissa Harper of North Royalton; grandsons, Aaron Boggs and Kyle Boggs of Louisville; brother, Gary Harper of Grayson, Kentucky; sisters, Edna Brewer of Morehead, Kentucky and Linda Harper of Georgetown, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Raymond Harper.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Farley officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date at Barker Family Cemetery in Sandy Hook, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pennsylvania Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund 13512 Pennsylvania Ave., Alliance, OH 44601.
