Russell E. Helsel, age 88, of Sebring, passed away at 3:57 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2014, at Aultman Hospital.
He was born March 12, 1926, in Deerfield, Ohio, to Edward S. and Lydia (Williams) Helsel.
Mr. Helsel was a line foreman for Ohio Edison, retiring in 1988, after 40 years of service.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for 49 years.
Mr. Helsel is survived by his son, Bruce E. (Patricia) Helsel of Alliance; daughter, Marcia K. (Arthur) Swetye of Stoutsville; and grandchildren, Christopher Helsel, Paul (Erin Hendricks) Helsel, Philip Helsel, and Ashley (Kyle) Babbitt.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Olympia (Dragich) Helsel, whom he married June 23, 1948 and who died July 17, 2014; brothers, Clyde and Thomas Helsel; and sister, Mary Helsel.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 26, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Stephanie Lee officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
