Ruth Helen (Ahrens) Allison

Ruth Helen (Ahrens) Allison, born in Calgary, Alberta Canada, passed away September 26, peacefully in her sleep.
She was born July 6, 1923 to Edwin and Elsie (Randall) Ahrens. Part of her childhood was spent living in Saginaw Michigan, but most of her life was spent living, working and raising a family here in Alliance.
Ruth was a graduate of Alliance High School, where the yearbook described her as "gum, giggles, and a song."
She was married for 62 years to M. Dale Allison, who preceded her in passing in 2007.
Ruth enjoyed her family, loved to cook, bake, sew and sing. She worked for many years at Alliance Tool Co. as their Executive Secretary. She was a lifelong member of Christ United Methodist church and sang in the choir for over 50 years there. She was also active in the Alliance Music Study Club and the Alliance Woman's Club. In addition, she volunteered for a number of years at the Alliance City Hospital.
Ruth is survived by her sister, Betty Pool of Alliance, brother-in-law, Paul Allison of Westville, sister-in-law, Mary Helen Ahrens of Dallas, Texas, daughter, Christine Allison (partner Ruth Oldroyd) of Canton, son, David (Jane) Allison of Greenville, RI, two grandsons, Scott (Claudia) Allison of Henderson, NV, and Shawn (Abbey) Allison of Sanibel, FL, and three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ian, and Simon.
A private family memorial service will be held, with interment at Fairmount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A Chorus for a Cause, 2624 19th St. NW, Canton OH 44708.
