Ruth Evelyn (Peterson) Coy, age 74, of Alliance, died at 10:15 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2013, at Community Care Center. She was born June 10, 1938 in Lisbon, Ohio, to Guy Emmett and Edith Ellen (Todd) Peterson. After graduating high school, Ruth was a secretary for Salem Community Hospital, Bacon and Cibula Clinic in Lisbon, Atty. John T. DeFazio, and for Nationwide Insurance. She was a member of the Alliance Nazarene Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and was past recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. Ruth enjoyed quilting, baking, and cooking. Survivors include her husband, John W. Coy, whom she married May 25, 1968, daughters, Joni (Coy) Rose of Lisbon, and Betsy Coy of Alliance; granddaughters, Alia Rose and Kyrstan Rose, and sisters, Mary Peterson of Canton, and Betty Peterson of Sebring. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Todd Peterson Coy; sister, Esther Peterson; and brother, Dwain Peterson. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the Alliance Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Glen Davidson officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Ruth's family would like to thank Community Care Center, the Rehabilitation Department, and Outpatient Therapy for the wonderful and compassionate care they gave Ruth.
