Ruth Ellen Hilton, age 83, of North Benton, died at 3:23 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Season's of Life Hospice, Parma Community General Hospital in Parma, Ohio.
She was born in North Benton, November 26, 1925 to Harry and Blanche (Miller) Ailes and was a life resident of North Benton.
Ruth retired from Quaker City IGA and began spending her winters in St. Cloud, Florida. She was a member of North Benton Presbyterian Church, member of the former Alma Chapter #498, Order of Eastern Star in Sebring, the Sebring 500 Club, member of St. Cloud Shuffleboard Club and the St. Cloud 500 Club and attended the St. Cloud Presbyterian Church
She especially enjoyed square dancing, aerobics, playing cards and shuffleboard, and spending time with her family.
Ruth's survivors include her daughters, Christine Hilton of Akron, Pamela (Les Thorne, dec'd) Hilton of North Royalton, and Jeannette (Jim, dec'd) Emmons of Homeworth; sons, John (Miriam) Hilton of Miami, Florida and Jim (Kathy) Hilton of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania; sister Betty Slater of Loveland, Colorado, and sister in law Naida (Ron Thomas of North Benton; foster sister, Justine Phillippi (Gordon) Palmer; nine grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack D. Hilton whom she married October 12, 1946 and who died Dec. 25, 2005; and her parents.
Services will he held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 at North Benton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Thomas Sawyer officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
