Ruth Marie Hoover

Heaven’s shore has a new beachcomber.

Ruth Marie Hoover passed away peacefully October 15, 2021.

She was born August 11, 1932 and graduated from Minerva High School.

Ruth married William E. Hoover at Science Hill Church September 2, 1951 and became a lifelong member. She served on the Women’s Guild, providing fresh flowers for the altar and decorated cakes for celebration. As a “Pink Lady”, Ruth volunteered at Alliance Hospital. She lived an artistic life painting, sewing and using her interior design skills in her homes and in houses built by the family business, The Country Craftsman. She and a circle of friends were founding member of The Modern Homemakers Club, a group of optimistic women who supported each other and the community for over 50 years.

Ruth was an avid shell collector on Fort Myers Beach. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Ohio and Florida.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bill; children, Julie Mailey (Fred) Jenny Hoover, Rob Hoover (Margi), Lorie Miller (Jeff); grandchildren, Jessica Fluharty (Rick), Ben Miller (Chetawni), Adam Hoover (Katie), Amanda Holland (Eric), Rich Miller (Teresa) Lauren Levan (Jay), and Anne Mailey; also great-grandchildren, Aubree, Benton, Owen, Hunter, Stella and Oliver.

Other family member surviving include Ruth’s sisters, Shirley Benner, Marjorie DelPuppo, and Marylou Glover.

Bring a lawn chair, wear a hat and join Ruth’s family for an outdoor memorial service Wednesday, October 20th at 2 p.m. at Science Hill Community Church, 12316 Beeson St. Alliance, Ohio 44601. Those attending are also welcome to stay in their car for the service.

A drive-thru visitation to pay respects will be held from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Science Hill Community Church.

Ruth will be laid to rest at Alliance City Cemetery.
