Ruth M. Rice, age 95, of Alliance, died January 8, 2006.
She was born May 25, 1910 in Mallorytown, Ontario Canada to William and Ardena (Morrow) McCormack and lived in Watertown, New York for most of her life.
Mrs. Rice was a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1933 from the House of Good Samaritan in Watertown, New York. She was also the Co-Owner of the former Garns Supply, a.k.a. Rice Enterprises, Inc., a family owned Heating and Plumbing Company.
Survivors include three daughters, Lynne Getman of Lowville, New York, Diane (David) Derrigo of Watertown, New York, and Renee (Robert) Akenhead of Alliance with whom she had lived since 1995; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn Rice, who died in Sept. 1969, whom she married in 1934; one son Gerard Rice, and one brother Gordon McCormack.
Private family services will be held at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Watertown, New York. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Sacketts Harbor, New York.
