Sam Neketis

Sam P. Neketis, age 70 of North Chicago, and formerly of the Alliance area, died at North Chicago Veterans Hospital on October 23, 2003.
A Vet of the US Navy, he was the beloved husband of Helen B. (Bargides), loving father of Kimberly Ann (William) Cadman, Angel and William Neketis. Proud grandfather of Kassandra Anna Maria Cadman, Jessica Heather Hansen and Phillip Michael Hansen. Devoted son of the late Phillip and Anna Neketis of Alliance, Ohio. Dear brother of the late William and Ann Neketis. Son-in-law of Elizabeth and the late Nick Bargides. Brother-in-law of Frank (Judy), Clara (the late Jim) Zink, Mary Lou (the late Ralph) Scassa, and Esther Blansett. Fond uncle of many. Member of the American Legion Post 791. Sam was active in the community with coaching and umpiring youth sports.
Visitation will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Tuesday from Noon to 1 p.m. with interment to follow at Alliance City Cemetery, with Fr. John Stavropoulos from Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church officiating.
