Samuel R. Shimp age 77 of Alliance, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday April 12, 2004 at Alliance Community Hospital.
Mr. Shimp was born April 23, 1926 in Dennison, Ohio to Samuel and Margaret (Young) Shimp and lived in Alliance since 1954.
He graduated in 1950 from Mount Union College with a Bachelor of Science degree, and worked as an Engineer for Crane Plumbing in Alliance and Somerset, Kentucky.
A member of Science Hill United Church of Christ, he was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, and was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in WWII and Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Lois A. (Dillon) Shimp, whom he married June 29, 1957, one daughter, Sally Jo (Mark) Bennett of Avon Lake, Ohio, one son, S. Scott Shimp, of Jacksonville, Fla., two granddaughters, Paige Bennett and Laine Bennett, both of Avon Lake, Ohio, two grandsons, Christian Bennett of Avon Lake, Ohio and Stephen Shimp of Jacksonville, Fla., and one sister, Dorothy Boose of Denver Co.
Mr. Shimp was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
