Sandra Kay Douthit Hamlin

Sandra Kay Douthit Hamlin age 79 died on August 18, 2024 after a lengthy battle with cancer. 

She was born February 9th, 1945, in Ravenna Ohio. Sandy was the youngest child of Thorton Ausbury Douthit and Eva Gaskill Douthit. Sandra attended Atwater School and lived in Alliance most of her life except for ten years in Florida. 

Sandy was a beautician in the Alliance area for more than 40 years and owned her own shop (one of the largest in Alliance at the time.) Her shop had a friendly vibe. 

Sandy was a member of Atwater United Methodist church. 

Her hobbies included playing the snare drum, playing cards and board games with her family and friends, she liked to do crossword, search a word, crypto quote puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. She liked to read and stay current on news events. Sandy enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns football team and Cleveland Cavalier’s basketball team. She liked to swim, and sunbathe, and travel as well. One of her most memorable trips was to Germany and Switzerland where she saw beautiful scenery and castles. 

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and five of her sisters and brothers, Clint Douthit, Beverly Douthit Pelosi, Gertrude Douthit (Fred) Martz, Anthony Douthit, and Richard Douthit; also preceding her in death was her son, Robert William Kendrick. 

Left to cherish her memory are Sandra's sister, Sherrie Douthit (James) Vence; her eldest son, Richard Michael Newman; her nieces, nephews, friends; her grandchildren, Heather Newman McFeeley Miller; Ashley Newman McFeely; Cassandra Newman; Kaylee Kendrick; Brianna Kendrick; Kyle Kendrick; Nash Kendrick; Jordyn Kendrick, and her great grandchildren. 

 Contributions in Sandra's memory may be made to the Atwater United Methodist church or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital. 

After cremation by Cassaday- Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, Sandra will be interned in the family plot at Atwater Cemetery. Per Sandra's wishes, there will be no services of calling hours.
