Sandra Elizabeth Patterson

September 28, 1944 — April 12, 2025

Born in Ohio on September 28, 1944, Sandra was the beloved daughter of Melba Elizabeth and Harry Christian Hayes. She grew up surrounded by love, guidance, and family values, embodying quiet strength, deep compassion, and a steadfast love for God and faith throughout her life.

Sandra shared a special connection with her siblings, forming a tight-knit circle filled with love, laughter, and lifelong friendship. Whether they gathered around the kitchen table, supported each other through life's ups and downs, or reminisced about joyful memories, their bond was a source of strength, joy, and comfort — a true testament to the essence of family. She treasured every moment spent with her brother and two sisters; their love was a continual thread woven through each chapter of her life.

A proud graduate of Alliance High School, Class of 1962, Sandra stepped into adulthood with grace and determination. She embarked on her professional journey at Amvets, Royal China, she then entered into Healthcare as an State tested nurse’s aide and then ending her career as an Occupational therapist assistant.

Soon after graduating, Sandra married Roosevelt Rogers and welcomed a beautiful baby boy. Tragically, his illness cut their time together short. Nevertheless, Sandra’s remarkable faith, strength, and resilience carried her through those dark days. Just when hope seemed distant, God brought John Patterson into her life to whom she wed in February 1972— the love she yearned for. Together, they had a beautiful baby girl and built a life rich with joy and precious memories while raising their daughter and son and later showering affection on their grandchildren. Their marriage flourished for over 30 years until his passing in 2003 a testament to the deep bond and shared dreams they cherished.

As a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and treasured sister and aunt, Sandra radiated warmth with her infectious smile, uplifting words, and unwavering faith. She possessed a remarkable gift for making everyone around her feel seen and deeply valued. In her spare time she loved to spend time with family, playing cards, going to the Casino and bowling.

Preceded in death by her parents, Melba and Harry Hayes; her husbands, Roosevelt Rogers and John Patterson; her sisters, Joanne Franklin and Lois “Toni” Louis; and her brother, Harry Nathaniel Hayes; her sister-in-law, Yvonne Donaldson; and her special friend, Arnold Jones.

Sandra leaves behind a legacy of love including her children, Darcell Rogers, (Denise) Melba Williams (Darrel); and a host of grand and great-grandchildren; a sister in law, Demora Hayes; and her longtime friend Joe Barker; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom loved and cherished her and will carry on her memory.
