Sara M. "Sally" Bingham

Sara M. "Sally" Bingham, age 87, of Alliance, passed away at 5:40 a.m., Friday, December 6, 2013, at Salem Community Hospital. She was born August 14, 1926, in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, to Perry B. and Harriet G. (Beswick) Moore. Mrs. Bingham was a graduate of Pittsburgh Art Institute with a degree in fashion design. She worked in fashion illustration for Kaufman's Department Store and was also a draftswoman for Bell Telephone Company. Later in her life, she operated the gift shop and snack shop at Alliance Community Hospital. She was a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church, Alliance Woman's Club, Tennysonians, Bridge Buddies, Alliance Art Center and past president of the Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered at Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered at Alliance Community Hospital and Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh, logging a total of more than 10,000 hours. Sally was an avid bridge player and artist. She loved sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penn State Nittany Lions and Cleveland Indians. Survivors include her daughter, Beth (Chuck) Standley of Salem; son, Mike (Becky) Bingham of York, PA; grandchildren, Whitney and Shaun Bingham, and Casey, Tyler and Hattie Newman; and great-grandson, Jackson Bingham. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William H. Bingham whom she married June 15, 1946 and who died October 4, 1990; two brothers and one sister. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Union Avenue United Methodist Church with Pastor Coralee Cox officiating, Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, December 9, 2013 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be in Presbyterian Cemetey in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Avenue United Methodist Church, 1843 S.
