Sara E. Damon, age 78 of Alliance, died at 4:05 a.m. May 31, 2005 at Alliance Community Hospital.
Born in Rapid City, South Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Crabb and Sara (Johnston) Crabb. Wife of the late Jack A. Damon, who died November 12, 1990. She was a graduate of Cornell College in Princeton, Iowa. She formerly worked for the YWCA of Alliance and later for Damon Industries where at her death she was on the Board of Directors.
Longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Alliance where she served on the Diaconate, Worship Board, Christian Education Board and the Music Committee. She led healing services at the Almon Damon Memorial Chapel in the church. She also sang in the Chancel Choir, was a Bible Study Leader and Sunday school teacher. In 2004, she was given Emeritus status on the Worship Board. Mrs. Damon organized the Alliance Chapter of the Order of St. Luke the Physician and the Holy Spirit Renewal Ministries for ABC/OH, and organized conferences and taught workshops at the National Holy Spirit Renewal Conference in Green Lake, Wisconsin. She also made two trips to the Holy Land and gave slide presentations of her travels.
Mother of Amy Damon of Alliance, Janice Damon of Alliance, Pastor Kenneth (Jennifer) Damon of Dayton, Ohio and Keith Damon, of Alliance, who cared for her for the past 3 years; daughter-in-law, Deborah Damon of Homeworth, grandmother of Julia Damon, Joel Damon, Kyle Damon, and Timothy Damon, and brother, Samuel (Willene) Crabb of Rapid City, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and granddaughter, Emily Damon.
Calling Hours will be held Friday, June 3, 2005 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S. Union Ave. Alliance, Ohio and for one hour prior to the Celebration Service on Saturday, June 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Alliance, 1659 W. State St. Alliance, Ohio. Interment at Fairmount Memorial Park will follow the service.
