Selma M. Walpert

Selma M. Walpert, age 83, of Alliance, died at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Community Care Center.
She was born in Alliance, Ohio on February 20, 1924 to Louis B. and Jenny (Wise) Sayers, moved to Chicago in the mid 1960's and returned to Alliance in 1990.
Mrs. Walpert was a graduate of Alliance High School. She worked as an Executive Secretary in Chicago and previously worked at Morgan Engineering in Alliance for many years.
She loved to read, especially the New York Times and work crossword puzzles. She also loved listening to music and visiting her good friends at Giant Eagle.
Mrs. Walpert is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Allan) Clark of Lexington, Kentucky; grandsons, Damyon (Mindie) Skudlarek of Kentucky, and Jonas Skudlarek of Florida; siblings, Arthur Sayers and Freda O'Dell, both of Alliance, and Richard Sayers, of Minerva; and many nieces and nephews, including Royce (Harley) Nutter of Homeworth, and Linda (Scott) Edwards of Alliance.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Genevieve "Jerie" Graham.
Mrs. Walpert's family would like to thank Dr. Park, Dr. Singh, and especially Dr. Cortese and the nursing staff at Alliance Community Hospital and Community Care Center and Hospice.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
