Sharel Edward Adkins, age 68, of Alliance, passed away at his home at 1:17 a.m. July 3 2007.
Mr. Adkins was born June 18, 1939 in Huntington, W.Va. to Clifford and Juanita (Stowers) Adkins and was raised by his grandparents, Jack and Lona Stowers.
A graduate of Hamlin High School in Hamlin, W.Va. Sharel was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam Era. He was employed by American Steel Foundries for 35 years before retiring in 2000. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend to many people. Mr. Adkins enjoyed fishing, hunting, auctions, and riding his four-wheeler.
Survivors include his wife, Mary J. Adkins whom he married January 17, 1965; son, Rodney (Charnell) Adkins, of Alliance; daughters, Sheila (Jim) Reynolds of Lisbon and Robbie (Ken) Meredith of Guilford Lake; granddaughters Brittani (Aaron) Arbogast of the Armed Forces, Rebecca, Katie, Jordan, Jessica and Marissa; grandsons, Erick (Monica), Josh and Jake; great grandchildren, Olivia, Keyton, and Haely; special cousin, Lyle (Ruth) McKendree, two special aunts, Carol Ollila, and Myrtle Wheeler; two uncles and many other cousins.
Sharel was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, and from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Koontz Funeral Home in Hamlin, W. Va.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Collins Knob Bethyl Baptist Church in Sias, W.Va. with Pastor Milo Cummings officiating.
Interment will be at Walker-Adkins Cemetery in Big Laurel, W.Va.
