Sharlet Gay Carpenter, age 91, of Alliance, died at 1:35 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, at Community Care Center.
She was born February 20, 1920, in Bonnie, West Virginia, to Thomas and Rose (Ellison) Stout.
Sharlet attended Alliance Baptist Temple. She was formerly employed by Taylorcraft Co. and also worked as a Nurses aid at Rockhill Place.
She is survived by her seven daughters, Betty Louise (Jim) Marks of Burnsville, WV., Carol (Clifford) Eberling, Rowena Ludu, Audrey Graham, Rosie Best, Diane Rose, and Susan (Ronald Sr.) Emplit, all of Alliance; five sons, Marvin C. (Beverly) Carpenter of Alliance, Burl (Carol) Carpenter of Sebring, Paul (Shirley) Carpenter of Alliance, Donald (Doris) Carpenter of Lake Milton and Tom Carpenter of Alliance; 34 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Carpenter, whom she married November 27, 1935; and who died November 9, 1989; six month old twin children; sister, Irene Morris; three grandchildren; and six brothers, Okie, Wilson, Johnson, Robert, Harry, and Frank Stout.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Payne officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
