Shirley Cope

June 4, 1930 — March 12, 2011

Shirley G. Cope, age 80, of Sebring, passed away at 4:03 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born June 4, 1930, in Moultrie, Ohio to J. Allen Palmer and Frances (Critser) Palmer VanDyke.
A 1948 graduate of Minerva High School, Mrs. Cope formerly worked at Cutty's Sunset Resort for more than twelve years.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for over 40 years, where she participated in the choir, Hallelujah Bell Choir and Crusader's/Searchers Sunday School Class.
Shirley was a pink lady volunteer at Alliance Community Hospital for 17 years and former 4H and Girl Scout Leader.
Survivors include her husband, Paul R. Cope, whom she married Sept. 16, 1951; son Paul Howard Cope of Alliance; daughters, Marsha Miller of Mt. Gilead, and Cindy (Andy) Magda of Alliance; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl (Ruth Ann) Palmer of Minerva; one sister, Mary (Jess) Hall of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Robert, Ronald, Kenneth and Richard Palmer.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Karl Stonebraker and Rev. David Hostettler officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
