Shirley M. Dragomir, age 87, of North Georgetown, passed away at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at St. Mary's Alzheimer Center in Columbiana.
She was born October 30, 1923, in Bangor, Maine, to Walter and Hazel (Day) Marshall.
A graduate of Leslie College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Shirley worked in a department store and taught school in Maine. In October 1964, she married Vasile Dragomir and moved to Ohio where they raised their family.
Mrs. Dragomir attended North Georgetown Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and during her active years she was involved in the Ruth Circle and many other church activities. She enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, and playing the piano and organ.
She is survived by her children, Pam (John) Manko of Mercer, Pa., Scott (Sandra) Dragomir of Minerva, Connie (Jack) Colando of Barberton; Bill Dragomir of North Georgetown, and Tom (Cheryl) Dragomir, of North Georgetown; grandchildren, Joshua Manko, Dillon Dragomir, Ian Houze, Bianca Houze, Michael Colando, Ashley Colando, Kelly Dragomir and Kendra Dragomir; and sister, Joann (Bob) Cole of Mars Hill, NC.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Vasile Dragomir, who died Sept. 13, 2001; and a twin sister, Caroline Michael, who recently passed in October 2010.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at the North Georgetown Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Carolyn Wagar Hier officiating. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
