Shirley A. Hawthorne

Shirley A. Hawthorne, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at her home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

She was born September 2, 1937 in Columbus, OH to Herman and Emma (Berlin) Mercer.

A member of Pine Lake Christian Church in Sebring, OH for over 20 years (prior to moving out of the local area), she also worked at SANCAP for over 26 years. Shirley loved to read, do word search puzzles and talk to her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Barbara Jackson (Jackie); Linda; son Chris (Cindy) Stieb; sister, Christine (Sis) Gehret; grandchildren Renee (Johnny) Dickenson; Jennifer (Frank) Koehler, Kelly (Noe) Ferrel, Michael, Stephanie and Melissa; great grandchildren; Austin, Tristan, Johnny (Jr.), Georgia, Peyton, Ayden and Emma; and great-great grand-child, Alice.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gene Hawthorne; and brothers, Thomas and Allen Mercer.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. The family asks those who choose to attend please wear a mask.
