Silvia Balaban

Silvia Balaban, age 85, of Alliance, passed away at 2:16 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Aultman Hospital. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and aunt and was loved by all.
She was born October 15, 1932, in Beclean, Romania, to George and Rafira Dan.
Silvia was employed at Mount Union College. A member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, she also was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Mihail Balaban, whom she married October 21, 1964; daughter, Mihaela Balaban of Cleveland; and a niece, Rodica "Dorin" Hogea and their children, Mihai and Andrei of Wooster.
Services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2018, at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. John Nemes officiating. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m., Friday, August 31, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. A Saracusta service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home Friday. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
