Simon J. Reed, age 84, of Alliance, passed away May 9, 2011.
Si was born July 12, 1926 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of Jess and Dora Mae (Middleton) Reed.
He proudly served our country during World War II, as a Pharmacist's Mate in the United States Navy, and was a retired Stationary Engineer of the Canton Forging Plant of the Ford Motor Company. Simon truly valued education and could never walk away from a good book. His house is filled with treasured tomes.
He is survived by his sister, Murlene (Norman) Marttala, of McMinnville, Tn.; brothers, Wiley Keith Reed, Sr. (Martha) of Canton; Philip Mark Reed (Joyce) of Williamsport, Pa.; seven nieces and nephews, and ten great-nieces and nephews. As a brother and an uncle he was always there for us and he will be deeply missed everyday
A Private Family Service will be held. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S. Union Ave., Alliance, Ohio 44601.
