Stanley L. Sutton, age 87, of Homeworth, passed away at 2:10 p.m. September 15, 2012, at Aultman Compassionate Care Center.
He was born September 27, 1924, in Freeburg, Ohio to Charles P. and Ester (Opp) Sutton.
A graduate of Minerva High School, Stanley was employed as a carpenter for Joe Rodgers Building and Heating and was also a horse trainer for Boyd Hemminger Stables.
Stanley was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force and a member of the North Georgetown American Legion and the Stark County Horsemen's Association. An avid baseball fan, Stanley enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy (McLaughlin) Sutton of Homeworth, whom he married December 18, 1971; son, Max Sutton of Minerva; step-daughter, Lori (Roger) Palmer of Paris, OH; grandchildren, Layn and Logan Palmer; brothers, Howard (Ina) Sutton or Alliance and Richard (Ann) Sutton of Minerva; and sister, Mary Fickenscher of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Jess Sutton, Arlene Sallee, Edna Browning, Annabelle Stinson, Marjorie Garmier, Maxine Ban, Robert Sutton and George Sutton.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at the Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Neil Orchard officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church. Interment will be at Salem Greenlawn Cemetery.
