Stephanie C. Jones Miller

Stephanie C. “Fanny” Jones Miller, age 95, of Alliance, passed away January 22, 2023 at Bel-Air Care Center.

She was born June 4, 1927 in Antwerp, Belgium to Matthew and Simonee Horemans.

Stephanie and her family survived the German Invasion in 1940. In 1945 while working for the Red Cross, Stephanie met her soon to be husband, Robert Jones, a U. S. Army M.P. They left Belgium together in 1946 to come to America, where they were married shortly thereafter.

Knowing only a few words of English, Stephanie taught herself the English language starting with comic strips and graduated to mystery novels. She worked as a waitress at Raven Restaurant and also worked at Sancap before retiring.

Stephanie met her second husband Vincent Miller while working at Sancap.   Those left to cherish her memory are her son-in-law; John E. Sherban; grandchildren John (Jenny) Sherban, Michael (Jodie) Sherban, and Lisa Sherban.; great-grandchildren, Mia Sherban, Isabella Sherban, Chloe Ceresna, and Eric Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Leontine Horemans; husbands, Robert Jones, and Vincent Miller; and daughter, Patricia A. Sherban.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2023 in the chapel at Highland Memorial Park.

The family would like to give a special thank you the caregivers of Bel-Air Nursing Facility for the excellent care given the last several years.
