Susan Kay McConnell, age 81, of Alliance passed away at Alliance Community Hospital at 9:20 p.m. on December 22, 2021.
She was born on February 10, 1940 in Alliance, OH to Herbert and Goldie (Maddox) Myers.
A 1958 graduate of Alliance High School, Sue worked in the past years at Alliance Manufacturing, Alliance Community Hospital, and for Dr. Lee, Dr. Compton Girdharry.
Sue loved the Carnation City Players Theatre, and dancing. She began at the age of six taking lessons from Jean Reisch, and performed in Fractured Follies, Carnation City Players, danced on the Gene Carroll Show out of Cleveland, and danced on the Ted Mack Show in New York City.
Sue was an active member of Maximo Zion Church where her nephew is the Pastor. She was a trustee, and kept the church decorated for all seasons.
Sue and her late husband Tom married July 31, 1960 and had three wonderful sons; Scott (Heather) McConnell, Stephen (Melody) McConnell and Shawn (Kristi) McConnell; her eleven grandchildren were her pride and joy and include, Katie, Julien, Seth, Jacob, Madison, Jordan, Justin, Stella, Logan, Hannah, and Kelsie; her two great-granddaughters, Nyah Shay and Milah Ann; nephews, Michael, Pastor David, and Craig Ashbrook; and great-nephew, Matthew Ashbrook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas J. McConnell, who died November 14, 2020; and her sister, Shirley Ashbrook.
A Celebration of Sue’s life will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 29th at Maximo Zion Church with Pastor David Ashbrook officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at the church.
Entombment will be at a later date at Highland Memorial Park.
