Sylvia M. Martin, age 74, of Alliance died at 2:00 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Great Trail Care Center in Minerva, Ohio.
She was born Oct. 21, 1933, in Zenith, WV to Theodore and Nellie McMahan Martin and resided in Cleveland before moving to Alliance in 1957.
Sylvia attended schools in Gap Mills, WV and was employed as a Nurse's Aid at Canterbury Villa Nursing Home before her retirement.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry May (Albert) Mathis of Minerva; sisters, Virginia (Wilbur) Hoke of Union, WV, Velva Little of Indiana and Pauline Hoke of Union, WV; brother, Charles (Norma) Martin of Draper, VA; three grandchildren, Angel Lynn Blymiller, April Lynn Mathis and Michael Lee Mathis; two great grandchildren, Chelsea Marie Mathis and Randi Lynn Blymiller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clive Martin, whom she married Aug. 8, 1953 and who died May 9, 2005; and a brother, Ernest "Boots" Martin.
Private services will be held Sat. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Norman of the Minerva First Christian Church officiating. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
