Tammy Jean Bates, age 57, of Salem, passed away at 10:03 a.m., Monday, February 2, 2015, at Hospice of the Valley.
She was born September 26, 1957 in Salem, Ohio, to Dale and Donna (Perry) Lewis.
A 1975 graduate of Mahoning County Vocational School, Tammy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
She was a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church and belonged to the Knit Wit Knits, knitting group and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include her high school sweetheart Ted, whom she met in 1974 and married in June of 1976; daughters, Mandi (Jeff) Snyder of Canton and their five sons and Mindy (Steven) Kisner of Salem and their daughter and three sons; son, Richard (Lauren) Bates of Tionesta, PA; sister, Cheryl Todd; brothers, Alan and Scott (Julie) Lewis; half-sister, Jeanette (Buzz) Orr and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Renee Sauerwein.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Damascus United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Amey officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Cassaday- Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
