Ted Arthur Whitacre, age 70 of Magnolia, formerly of Alliance died at 2:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at his home.
He was born January 2, 1935 in Alliance, the son of the late Leland H. and Virginia (Kaemmerer) Whitacre.
Mr. Whitacre was a graduate of Alliance High School and spent his entire working life in the graphics art and design field working out of Canton, Ohio. For the last 25 years Ted and business partner James Bosworth founded and operated Paragraphics Inc. in Canton.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He was an avid follower of sports and automobile racing. In 1960 his car claimed the National Championship of NARA Nationals in Detroit, Michigan. Ted was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Alliance.
Survivors include two brothers; Lawrence Glenn Whitacre of Upland, California and William Harry Whitacre of Massillon; niece Laura of Tucson, Arizona; nephew Matthew of California; former wife Bonnie Appel Whitacre of Surfside, South Carolina; stepsons Chris Appel of Atlanta, Georgia, Michael (Cheri) Appel of Fort Wayne, Indiana; cousins Bob (Marnie) Kaemmerer of Texas, Bill (Carol) Kaemmerer of Edina, Minnesota and special caregiver Carrie.
Services will be held Monday at 8:00 p.m. at First Christian Church 1141 W. Beech St. Alliance with Sue DeHoff officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
