Thelma Carpenter, age 91, of Salem, passed away at 3:25 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born March 29, 1920, in Deerfield, Ohio to Harvey and Verda (Woodward) Williams.
Mrs. Carpenter was formerly employed at Alliance Manufacturing, and Strong Enamel in Sebring.
Thelma enjoyed playing cards, fishing, bowling, traveling, camping, going to the theatre, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Myra and Don "Marlin" Watkins, of Summitville, sons, Darryl (Roberta) Carpenter, of Marlboro, and Myron "Ben" (Wilma) Carpenter, of Alliance; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Edward Williams, of Beloit, sister, Wilda (John) Bandy, of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd W. Carpenter, whom she married Feb. 4, 1946, and who died Feb. 13, 1974; and two grandsons.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Diana Williams officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
