Thelma Elenore Geiger, age 100, of Sebring, died at 6:50 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2008 at Copeland Oaks.
She was born April 30, 1908 in Madison, Ohio to William and Mollye (Fischgrund) Parks and lived at Copeland Oaks since July of 1974.
Prior to her marriage, she was Society Editor and Sunday Magazine Editor of the Canton Repository, then was advertising copy writer for Stern and Mann's. She was a member of the Alliance Review Editorial Staff for 30 years, including feature writer and Women's Editor. She was a resident of Copeland Oaks since July of 1974 and Public Relations Coordinator at Copeland Oaks since July of 1973.
Mrs. Geiger was past president and member of Ohio Newspaper Women's Association, past president of Alliance Woman's Club, Charter member and past chairman of Women's Division of the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce and member of Alliance Quota Club, honorary member of Alliance Retired Teachers Association, advisory board member of Alliance Salvation Army for fifteen years, board member of Alliance Community Chest (forerunner of United Way), member of Women's Auxiliary at Alliance Community Hospital, Alliance Historical Society and Alliance YMCA.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Christopher Geiger, Kurt Geiger, K.C. Geiger, Kimberly Anderson and Kelly Jordan; 13 great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren; and a close friend, Fran Clarke.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold J. Geiger, who died November 9, 1983; and a son, Max L. Geiger, who died December 6, 1994.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2008 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rabbi John H. Spitzer of Temple Israel of Canton officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
