Thelma Mae George, 79, of Alliance, died at 1:40 p.m. Sunday at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born June 3, 1927, in Huntington, W. Va., to Haskal and Mary (Aretta) Adkins. She was a receptionist for Salvation Army in Alliance for 10 years. She was a member of Home Mission Church. A devoted mother, she enjoyed shopping, gardening and being outdoors. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by three daughters, Brenda (Ralph) Stewart of Alliance, Dianne Cummings of Canton and Raymondia (Michael) Gentry of Alliance; two sons, Bruce (Dorothy) George and Randy (Maria) George, both of Alliance; 20 grand-children; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Bruce Adkins of East Liverpool; two sisters, Teven Dennison and Martha Chatterton, both of Huntington, W. Va.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald George in 1978; daughter Donna Collins; and one son, Donald "Bud" Collins. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with George Kiser, pastor of Freewill Baptist Church in Atwater, officiating. Burial will be at Alliance City Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
